Anuoluwapo Akinola has over eight years’ experience working with young children, and creating awareness on the importance of early childhood education. Currently, she works as the center director of Xtraokids Childcare Centre, where she leads a team providing custodial care and educational services to children under five years old, and spearheads the pop-up crèche – an off-site center, which supports women participating in professional or religious programs without the concerns of proximity to quality childcare. Anuoluwapo volunteers her time by engaging children in her community during summer in various life skills. She is also a facilitator, training childcare givers with skills necessary for working with young children. Upon completion of the Fellowship, she plans on expanding the activities of Xtraokids Childcare Centre, continue to raise awareness on early childhood education, provide mentoring for others in the early childhood education sector and engage in advocacy for enlightenment in this important sector.
